Jose Rizal, The Face of Philippines Transformation

Jose Rizal known as the Philippines’ national hero, and made a big impact on the country. His smart thinking and writing, especially in books “Noli Me Tangere” and “El Filibusterismo”, showed how the Spanish rulers were treating the Filipinos unfairly. This got people thinking and motivated them to stand up against the unfair system. Rizal had been very vocal against the Spanish government, but in a peaceful and progressive manner. For him, “the pen was mightier than the sword.” Through his books, he exposed corruption, infair treatment and wrongdoings of the Spanish rulers and friars.

Besides being a writer, Rizal cared a lot about education and making positive changes in our country. He started schools and encouraged Filipinos to learn, believing that education could make the country better. His efforts in education continue to influence the way Filipino think and learn today.  His inspiring books made the Filipinos to open their eyes on the unfair treatment of Spanish rulers and raise their voices.

Rizal was also unique because he wanted changes to happen peacefully. He didn’t believe in violence and always talked about importance of Filipinos working together. His ideas on unity, education, and peaceful change became the foundation for later movements that led the Philippines to independence. In simple terms, Rizal’s main contribution was inspiring a movement that changed Philippine history.
